Massing Model
It is proposed to demolish the existing pre-war clubhouse building and all later building additions to the clubhouse, including the 1980s office/store building to the rear. Demolition of the existing foundations are proposed to ensure level access is provided to all areas of the new clubhouse.
The proposed clubhouse is envisaged as a functional, flexible and inclusive facility, providing secure changing facilities for all and incorporating a multi-functional club room with full visibility of the cricket pitch.
The proposed facility is formed from two distinctive building blocks; both constructed from load-bearing masonry walls with brick facades and standing seam metal roofs. Shown in the diagrams overleaf, the two blocks are positioned around a triangular courtyard to minimise impact and overlooking to the neighboring bungalow. Furthermore, the storage area to the rear is stepped down 1m lower than the club room to minimise overshadowing to the bungalow behind.
