Proposed Programme
The existing facilities at the Caribbean Sports club do not promote inclusivity nor can they accommodate the Club’s number of players, officials and coaching staff.
The adjacent diagram outlines the expected spatial requirements for the new building, with changing rooms and supporting facilities shown in green, and spaces relating to spectating and community use shown in orange.
The proposal offers 4 individual team changing rooms for both men and women’s football and cricket. Self-contained changing facilities for male and female officials are also proposed and can double up as first aid rooms on non-match days. All areas are designed so that they can be used by both able-bodied and disabled people. In addition to this, one accessible toilet/changing room has also been allowed.
The club room is the main internal social space. Its open-plan design fulfils many different activities, making it one of the main sources of income generation for the Club as it can be hired out by the wider community for functions and events. This will allow the Club to open up to the local community, beyond its players. A kitchen/bar will accommodate food preparation for events and match days.
